    Tequila Lime Chicken Wings Recipe

    December 25, 2020 by admin 2 Comments

Tequila Lime Chicken Wings are perfect as an appetizer at a party, tailgating, or a quick weeknight dinner. The wings can be finished off on the grill or in the oven.

    Ingredients

    • 1 pound of chicken wings, cut into segments, tips removed and discarded
    • 1 tablespoon salt
    • 1 tablespoon freshly cracked black pepper

    Tequila Lime Sauce

    • ½ cup lime juice
    • 2 teaspoon grated lime zest
    • ¼ cup tequila
    • 1 tablespoon of honey or agave syrup/nectar
    • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
    • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
    • ½ tablespoon freshly cracked pepper
    • ½ teaspoon salt

    Directions

    1. Prepare the wings: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Season the wings with salt and pepper and arrange on a baking sheet in a single layer. Cook until just brown and crisp, about 45 minutes.
    2. Make the sauce: Combine the lime zest and juice, tequila, honey or agave syrup, cumin, ½ teaspoon salt, and ½ tablespoon pepper in a bowl. Pour over the warm wings and let marinate for at least 30 minutes.
    3. Preheat a grill to high. Grill the wings until marked, 10 to 15 minutes, turning as needed. Transfer the marinade to a saucepan and cook until slightly thick, about 8 minutes (you can do this on the grill as well). Drizzle the wings with the sauce and top with cilantro, if desired.

How To Grill A Beer Can Chicken

Since we began this channel I knew I wanted to share our recipe showing how to grill a beer can chicken. This chicken is moist, seasoned just right and without a doubt one of the easiest ways to grill a chicken. If you're not into a bit of heat be sure to decrease or omit the cayenne pepper.

This is one of those recipes where you want to lick the plate! I'm not even kidding. If no one was looking I just might. I doubt you'll have leftovers but if you do this sauce is even better the next day!

    INGREDIENTS

    • 2 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
    • 2 lb. skin-on, bone-in chicken thighs
    • Kosher salt
    • Freshly ground black pepper
    • 2 tbsp. butter
    • 1 small onion, chopped
    • 1 large carrot, peeled and chopped
    • 1 celery stalk, chopped
    • 8 oz. mushrooms, sliced
    • 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
    • ½ c. white wine
    • 2 c. low-sodium chicken broth
    • 1 c. heavy cream
    • 2 tbsp. freshly chopped parsley
    • 1 tbs. fresh thyme leaves

    DIRECTIONS

    1. In a large high-sided skillet (a dutch oven is perfect) over medium heat, heat oil. Season chicken on both sides with salt and pepper then add to skillet and cook until golden, 5 minutes per side. Remove from skillet and set aside on a plate.
    2. In the same skillet add butter and melt then add onion, carrot, celery, and mushrooms and cook until soft, 5 minutes. Add flour and cook 1 minute. Pour in the wine and scrape up any bits on the bottom of the pan and reduce wine by half, 7 minutes.
    3. Add broth and cream and season with parsley, thyme, and salt and pepper. Add chicken back to pan and simmer until chicken is cooked through and sauce is thickened, 15 minutes.
    4. To brown the chicken on top and get the sauce even thicker slip your dutch oven into an oven at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes.

Our test kitchen like using Pinot Grigio in this recipe but you can see other suggestion or read up on how to choose in our post on Choosing wines for cooking.
