Tequila Lime Chicken Wings Recipe
Tequila Lime Chicken Wings are perfect as an appetizer at a party, tailgating, or a quick weeknight dinner. The wings can be finished off on the grill or in the oven.

Zesty, Bold, and Perfect for Game Day: Tequila Lime Chicken Wings
If you love wings that pack both flavor and flair, our Tequila Lime Chicken Wings are here to steal the spotlight. This recipe takes a classic crowd-pleaser and infuses it with a vibrant Southwestern twist — combining tangy lime, smoky tequila, and a hint of spice for wings that are anything but ordinary.
A Flavor Fiesta in Every Bite
What makes these wings so irresistible is the balance of flavors. Fresh lime juice brings a bright, citrusy zing that cuts through the richness of the chicken, while tequila adds a subtle smoky depth that ties everything together. Add a few well-chosen spices, and you’ve got wings that burst with character — crisp on the outside, tender inside, and coated in a glaze that demands a second helping.
These aren’t your average bar wings. The tequila-lime combination offers a lively, refreshing contrast that pairs beautifully with warm Texas evenings, backyard cookouts, or football watch parties. Whether grilled, baked, or air-fried, they bring a little fiesta to every gathering.
The Perfect Party Food
Tequila Lime Chicken Wings are tailor-made for entertaining. They’re finger food at its best — bold, messy, and undeniably fun. Serve them as an appetizer or make them the main attraction with sides like Mexican street corn, guacamole, or a crisp coleslaw for balance.
And don’t forget the dips! A cool ranch or creamy avocado-lime dip takes them over the top. For those who like a little heat, a drizzle of hot honey or a splash of your favorite hot sauce makes the perfect finishing touch.
A Toast to Flavor
What’s great about cooking with tequila is that it’s not just about the alcohol — it’s about the way it enhances flavor. The agave notes in tequila complement lime and spice beautifully, creating a marinade that’s both refreshing and complex. A good silver or reposado tequila works best, offering just the right balance of brightness and depth without overpowering the wings.
Pair your finished wings with a cold beer, a classic margarita, or even a sparkling lime soda for a non-alcoholic twist. No matter how you serve them, these wings are guaranteed to bring smiles all around.

Ingredients
- 1 pound of chicken wings, cut into segments, tips removed and discarded
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon freshly cracked black pepper
TEQUILA LIME SAUCE
- ½ cup lime juice
- 2 teaspoons grated lime zest
- ¼ cup tequila
- 1 tablespoon of honey or agave syrup/nectar
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- ½ tablespoon freshly cracked pepper
- ½ teaspoon salt
DIRECTIONS
- Prepare the wings: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Season the wings with salt and pepper and arrange on a baking sheet in a single layer. Cook until just brown and crisp, about 45 minutes.
- Make the sauce: Combine the lime zest and juice, tequila, honey or agave syrup, cumin, ½ teaspoon salt, and ½ tablespoon pepper in a bowl. Pour over the warm wings and let marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat a grill to high. Grill the wings until marked, 10 to 15 minutes, turning as needed. Transfer the marinade to a saucepan and cook until slightly thick, about 8 minutes (you can do this on the grill as well). Drizzle the wings with the sauce and top with cilantro, if desired.
