There are three things you will always find on the menu at a biker bar, Burgers, steaks, and beer. Part of taking a motorcycle ride is finding a great place to eat. A plus is when you can find a place to also source delicious ingredients for cooking at home. Days Well Spent believes in using ingredients from local businesses to support our community. Beer from a local brewery, vegetables from a farmer's market, and honey from local beekeepers are great options. This recipe for biker bar beer steaks was inspired by many of the local options we have here in Texas. I'm sure if you look around your area you'll be able to source them locally too. If not they are simple ingredients any grocery store will have on hand.
BIKER BAR BEER STEAKS
Serves 2
INGREDIENTS
¼ cup lemon tea vodka
1 beer of your choice, we like Samuel Adams or Shinner, when we can't get to a local brewery.
½ teaspoon sea salt
¼ teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
2 steaks of your choice, we prefer the rib-eye
½ cup of beef broth
1 tablespoon honey
¾ teaspoons vanilla
1.5 tablespoon fig jam. We use this recipe to make our own.
½ cup whipping cream
3 tablespoons butter
DIRECTIONS
- In a resealable plastic bag combine vodka, beer, salt, and pepper. Put the steaks in the bag to marinate in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours, turning the bag over a couple of times to mix the flavors throughout the steaks.
- Preheat grill on high heat
- Place steaks on the grill. Reserve the marinade. Cook steaks to the desired amount.
- In a medium skillet, add the reserved marinade, beef broth, honey, vanilla, and jam. Simmer until thickened. Whisk in the cream and bring it back to a bubble. Remove from heat and whisk in the butter. Salt to taste.
- Allow the steaks to rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
- Pour sauce over steak and serve.
Serve with a side salad and grilled vegetables or baked potato. If you were in a biker bar your side would most likely be french fries.
